Hi, my name is Cheryl Wimperis, and I'm a former professional ballerina and now yoga instructor Leicester and lifestyle coach.
I am based in Leicester, Oadby. Wigston is my home town, and after my international career as a ballerina, I felt drawn to return to my roots, not only within myself, but also location. So I packed my suitcase after working all over Europe from 18 and headed back to Leicester, my home town.
Not only do I have the experience as a professional ballerina, but also as somebody who has studied anatomy and physiology for many years. This enables me to understand how the body works, which helps me guide people safely through their yoga with correct body alignment.
My yoga group classes are popular and designed to make you feel good on every level – mentally, emotionally and physically.
If you are interested in taking one of my yoga classes, either in person or online yoga, please contact me today!
You can book a class through my website and attend the group class.
Looking forward to meeting you and working with you as your yoga instructor in Leicester.
Namaste 🧘🏻

I have worked with the body and mind all my life. As a training ballerina at the Royal Ballet School, I soon discovered that it takes a lot of discipline to develop the skills required for a sustainable and healthy career as a ballerina. However, those years of working with my body gave me great insight into working with energy, anatomy, movement, fitness, mindset, nutrition and physical wellbeing.
I have always had a keen interest in the workings of the mind and body. Upon returning to Wigston, I completed a Masters Degree (MA) in choreography. My chosen topic for my MA was, in fact, the mind. It's interesting, isn't it?
When we reflect on our lives and see how one thing leads to another, I can now see how all those little steps have taken me on wonderfully personal and spiritual development?
My Master's Degree paved the way for my career as a teacher, with teacher training which eventually led me to work in the dance and education sector in Leicester Universities, like Leicester College and De Montfort University, and co-founded a dance school.
I came across yoga in the middle of my career as a professional dancer. After trying my first yoga class, I was hooked! I loved how I instantly felt calm, centred, and connected to something much bigger than myself.
After that class, I soon dived deeper into my yoga practice and developed my teaching skills within this wellness area.
So in 2007, I completed my 200hrs Sun Power Yoga Teachers Qualification. That immersive experience opened me up to the greater knowledge within myself and my passion for personal development.
What yoga philosophy has taught me so much about myself, giving me a deeper understanding of who I am, how my body and all its systems work, how my energy body works, how to maintain my health naturally and realistically, how to detoxify my body and mind, and how to control my mind (rather than my mind control me).
These lessons improved my dancing and teaching and have supported me greatly, primarily through life's challenges.
I love being able to teach what I have been taught to the Leicester community. Passing on the tools that continue to help my health and my own mental/physical wellbeing is such a wonderful experience to be part of.
I have taught many classes in Oadby and Leicester and have been part of some incredible transformational journeys using the medium of yoga, dance, mindfulness, coaching, and mentoring. It's something I will always be grateful to have been part of.
I teach yoga for beginners at the Leicester Squash Club in Leicester, on London Road, in the East Midlands.
This is a lovely, intimate setting for beginners, and a wonderful atmosphere for those who want to move at a pace that feels right to build confidence and learn new skills.
This Leicester studio is located near Leicester train station, close to the city centre of Leicester.
It is next to the delightful Victoria Park, the Old Horse and Leicester's popular Claridon Park area. This venue hosts lots of lovely boutiques and independent cafes to enjoy a nice smoothie or herbal tea after your yoga practice.
We have some beautiful studios here in Leicester. Nothing beats an inviting, calming space to relax and re-energise with a like-minded community.
Still, I also love teaching in our wonderful parks here in Leicester.
When the summer evenings are here, you will always find me teaching yoga classes under the sunsets in Knighton Park or Victoria Park.
It's an extraordinary atmosphere and experience to practice yoga in nature.
Swami Ramdev - Yoga teacher and guru
Yoga is a way of life. There is a famous saying that "yoga is as much what we do off the mat as on the mat". Although the Asanas are a great way to connect our mind and body, improve strength, flexibility and mobility, it's our ability to control the "monkey mind" that will help transform our habits, our thinking, our emotional state, self-love, physicality and will transform our life.
Life On Pointe's work is based on the foundational pillars that help us improve our quality of life. When each of these pillars is addressed, organised, and practiced consistently, our well being improves.
These areas of our health include:
Yoga moves beyond the mat and physical exercise.
The deeper we journey into our practice and yoga as a way of life, the more we understand that being successful means being in balance with all aspects of life.
We can all be of service in a way that is suited to our lifestyle and how we can be of service.
Whether assisting in your community as a mentor, donating to a charity, or sharing knowledge and experience are all acts of service.
Contributing to our community keeps our life in perspective and provides a solid foundation to build on.
There is a lovely saying that reads: Are you ready to receive as much as you give?
There's is so much research now that catching up with what the yoga gurus knew thousands of years ago about the benefits of yoga and our wellbeing.
The aim of any yoga practice, be it a class in Leicester, an online, in-person, or 121 mentoring session, is to move our heads into our bodies, centre and quieten the mind so we can think and feel more effectively and thoroughly.
This body and mind connection helps relieve many other physical systems that stress is causing. And related to.
All of my students and clients during my classes in Leicester noticed improvements:
How about the "Life On Pointe Lifestyle" programme, which will take you through a 90 day lifestyle transformational yoga journey, addressing our nutrition, exercise routine, and mindset in a supportive and structured process, giving you all the tools you need to make sustainable healthy changes, and improve your quality of life?

Taking care of the entire self.
A holistic lifestyle means looking after our entire self, our mind, body, emotions, energy and spirit. It's understanding that all these parts affect the other. To expand and feel better, lighter and happier, me must consider all aspects of ourselves, not just one.
Holsitic living is a mindset and a way of life. When we are not feeling healthy, for exmaple maybe we are struggling with anxiety, overhwlem, high blood pressure or depression, we do not look at the sympotons alone, we consider all aspects of our lives, relationships, habits, behavioural patterns. We look at the bigger picture because we understand that everything is connected and many factors influence each other.
A holsitic lifestyle includes daily focus on:
Mindset
Movement
Intuitive and science based nutrition
Personal development
Self awareness
Self care
Its the sum of which create a healthier relationship with ourself and when our foundations within are strong and we love who we are, or who we are becoming our external life begins to change because our internal world is organised, balanced, strong and centered in love, not fear.
Yoga is a philosophy, practice and way of life to create inner calm, peace and positive thinking. As we learn more about ourselves, the action we take helps purify the body and mind, creating a life of balance, values and peace.
Yoga therapy optimises the function of every system in our body, from the muscles to digestion, circulation and immunit. Its a philosophy, a practice and way of life to create inner calm, peace and positiving thinking.
Yoga runs much deeper than just a workout or fitness exercises, the true depths of yoga and a holsitic lifestyle helps us completely transform ourselves, from our thinking habits, to our genenrational codes and wounds, to our sense of purpose and direction in life, it changes our physiology ar a celluar level and has the pwoer to completey transform our mental wellbeing and appreciaten for our life.
So lets look at a few componets of a holsitic lifestyle from a practical point of view:
Movement
Integrating movement into our lives is what makes our energy and prana flow
Meditation
Nutrition
Mindfulness
360 transformation

Flow yoga is when we move one pose (asana) into the next. I like to discribe this as "transitioning like you are moving through honey". As we flow from one movement to the next we lead with the breath, which helps us to shift our focus inwards and experience the present moment, rather than focusing on our thoughts and external stimuli. When we lead with the breath, the body follows and each pose is moved with fluidity and ease.
As a ballerina I love flow yoga and enjoy creating flow yoga sequences where we integrate ballet and yoga, it brings meditation into our moving practice and helps calms the mind, connects us to our inner dancer and allow us to feel creative, free and authentically expressive.
I always welcome new students at the start of every class, putting them at ease and explaining what to expect during our time together. This helps relax the student and allows them let go of any worries or anxieties.
I will always demonstrate everything, and during my demonstrations I will give 2 or 3 modifications on each pose, so the student can chose at which intensity that want to practice in on that day. Each class develops slightly from the last, to ensure that student can revisit poses, improve them and also develop their practice, gaining more strength and confidence.
I absoutley love going on a journey with my students, each practice is different but the overall experience is that of moving out of our chatty heads and into our bodies and heart.
Once we start to connect the breath and the body, I see my students minds calm down, I feel their awareness heighten and they become "present", therefore they feel more peaceful and centered.
My classes always integrate energy concepts and yoga philosphy, so the students will learn about their energy body and be able to discover more about themselves as we pass through and rest in each pose.
I love witnessing the transformations that take place, whether its in a 1 hour class or a 90 day lifestyle programme, there is always a shift into peace, clarity and happiness. That is the path of yoga.
Yin yoga is the counter part to yang yoga, and the practices allow us to focus on different aspects of our body. Where Yang yoga gives us a path to focus on strength, muscle and structure. Yin yoga is based on Chinese philosophies and Taoist principles and provides a pathway to entre deeply into tissues, facia, bones, connective tissues.
The poses can be held for longer periods of time helping is to access deeper tissues and bones and unblockaging Gi, or Prana, so that flows freely around the body as it is meant to.
I always take my beginners through a simply strucutre of first learning how to breath correctly, becuase this will immediately help with anxiety, panick attacks and general unease, and these simple breathing technqiue can be practiced any time of the day or night, sitting, stadnding or lying down, its one of the most powerful places to start in yoga, learning how to breath, and from there you can build a solid and beneficial yoga practice.
There are many incredible yoga instructers out there, and also some that are not practing what they teach, you will know when you meet an authentic yoga teacher, and don't think they have to look a certain way or embody a "style" of a yogi. Yoga is not a fashion statement, its a jounrey back to Self, our most authentic self, and that follows no fashion or trends, it follows itself.
What is important is that you resonate with your yoga guide, you feel safe in their presence, expertise and experience, and of course that they guide you from wherever you are back into your true Self, where you feel open, light and peaceful.
