Rachel Brathen, Yoga Girl
I felt a strong desire to return home after an international career as a dancer. After traveling throughout Europe, I returned to my hometown of Leicester at the age of 18.
As a dancer, I have gained a lot of insight into energy, anatomy, ease of movement, fitness, mindset, nutrition, and physical wellbeing. How the mind interacts with the body has always fascinated me. To complete my Master of Arts in choreography, I returned to Wigston.
The journey that led me to this point in my life has been fascinating to look back on. Through these seemingly small steps, I have grown spiritually and personally.
While completing my Master's Degree, I worked at various Leicester education facilities, including Leicester College and De Montfort University, and founded a dance school.
During my career as a professional dancer, I discovered the benefits of yoga and yoga therapy, and I was hooked after my first lesson! In my mind, I felt calm, centred, and connected to something greater than myself. As a yoga teacher and yoga practitioner, I have grown. I received a 200-hour yoga teacher certification from Sun Power Yoga in 2007.
Due to the immersive yoga experience, I have developed an interest in personal development and practices that promote personal growth.
Through yoga, I've learned about my body and its systems, my energy body. I also know how to stay healthy naturally, how to detoxify my body and mind, and how to control my thoughts.
In addition to improving my dancing and teaching, these teachings have supported me throughout my life.
Additionally, I offer online yoga classes for students who live far away or prefer to practice at home, in addition to my weekly classes in Oadby and Leicester City. You can also follow along at your own pace and at any time with an online yoga subscription service. Adult classes are available for absolute beginners and advanced students.
Furthermore, I have developed multiple wellness, mindfulness, and nutritional support programmes that you can follow along with and work with me on.

Yoga is a way of life for yogis. "Yoga is as much about what we do off the mat as what we do on it."
By practising asanas, we can strengthen our muscles, improve muscle tone, and improve our flexibility and mobility. The ability to control our "monkey mind" will transform our breathing habits, thoughts, emotional state, self-esteem, physicality, and lives.
The foundational pillars of Life On Pointe's work enhance our quality of life. Our health improves when we address, organise, and practice each of these pillars consistently.
We focus on:
Yoga Kibworth extends beyond the mat and physical exercise.
Success in yoga means being in balance with all aspects of our lives, and yoga as a way of life.
Our lifestyles and ways of serving can all be adapted to suit our needs. Mentoring in your community, donating to a charity, and sharing yoga knowledge and experience are all acts of service.
Being part of our community keeps life in perspective and provides a solid foundation on which to build.
Can you give as much as you receive?
Bring your yoga mat and try it out! 🧘🏻

When a woman is pregnant, yoga can be a wonderful way to support her. Yoga during pregnancy prepares the mind and body for childbirth, and strengthens the body effectively during pregnancy and after delivery.
Enjoy your food! To assist in this incredible transformation, fuel your body. The body requires various whole foods, a balanced diet, and various vitamins and minerals. The body doesn't need to be overloaded with foods that don't serve it, like chocolate and processed foods. To thrive, you and your baby need fresh, whole foods. You can learn about nutritionally dense foods that benefit our bodies' health by reading My 30 days of healthy living and beyond.
By learning deep relaxation techniques, it relieves back and leg pain and promotes better sleep. This is one of the best ways to connect with your growing baby and your body. To prepare for childbirth and recovery, our bodies must be sufficiently strong. When you are pregnant, you need to nourish yourself, your body, and your baby with the right kind of food, exercise, and mental health exercises.
Depending on the teacher you resonate with and what you want from your yoga class, there are many different yoga styles. As an example, warm Yin yoga is a languid practice that requires the practitioner to sit and hold a pose for some time. As a result, they can fully release and support their health on a deep tissue level. Yin yoga helps us heal on a deep level: tissues, bones, connective tissue, and fascia. Power yoga is on the other end of the spectrum. As an example, this is very physical and demanding on the body, integrating upper bodywork, core exercises, and leg exercises.
Kundalini yoga focuses on the energetic body and arouses the dormant energy at the base of the spine. Our whole vibration rises when we awaken this energy. The flow state allows us to manifest with ease and joy, because we become more self-aware. There are many practices to awaken our connection to Self in Kundalini Yoga, which is embedded in the work at Life On Pointe.
That we are energetic, and our path to healing and living a joyful life starts with our energy and coming back to ourselves. Because we are energy, everything is energy, and everything is connected. When we live in fear, anxiety, or even perfectionism, we are separated and have a dualistic mind, which causes unease. When we tap into our deep-seated energy through various practices, not just on the mat, but also off the mat, we wake up our kunalidina energy and release Self and One consciousness.
In all honesty, I don't have a preference. Yoga occurs as a result of our interactions with life. In the supermarket, I can practice yoga while calmly calming myself down from rage, or while reading with my children. Our yoga practice is how we live our lives. Yoga brings me back to my inner center, regardless of where I am in the world.
When I hear the word yoga, I think of peace. Yoga brings about a sense of peacefulness and serenity: progress and personal achievement through growth and inner strength. I think of all the people who have crossed my path and entered yoga training, whether yoga philosophy, mindfulness, nutrition or peaceful studio-based practice, and think about it.
I practice yoga at home. It would be nice to create a clean spiritual space for you and your physical practice. This creates an environment where you can relax and let go. However, I have also practised mediation around my noisy children, and Lego filled the floor, bringing me back to my centre. It's interesting how children respond to you when you practise at home. They will understand in time to respect your quiet time, and maybe even join in. Try it, give it time, and see what happens!
Yoga helps create a clean space, because it is about respecting yourself, your time, your practice, and your environment. As you look inward, part of the yoga journey is 'cleaning and purifying'. When you realise that your environment becomes part of your inner work, you will have started a part of your healing process. Social and home environments are all part of your inner work. Household decluttering is an energetic process of dealing with emotional energy and making safe space in a yoga house. The colours, smells, rituals, and plants you fill your house with will also become more conscious, as you will realize that your inner world reflects your outer world.
Yoga is a way of life. Yoga is not just standing on a mat in a tree pose. Yoga brings us closer to our true selves. With eight limbs to yoga, the list helps address all areas of our lives and well-being. In Life On Pointe, we focus on body awareness, mind, and nutrition, because these are gateways to release ourselves from negative patterns and raise our vibration. It is also important to note here that yoga is not about passive meditating. Yoga is a challenging path. It encourages us to turn darkness into light. Be aware of your ego. Being honest with ourselves is the key to shining a light on the areas of ourselves we hide.
The ultimate goal of yoga is self-realisation and the creation of one consciousness.
It is unnecessary to learn or understand the philosophy of yoga before beginning your practice. However, somewhere along your yoga path, you will be drawn to learn with the right guidance and encouragement to open up to yourself. This will happen when the time is right for you.
Yes, there are many countless benefits. We are just as natural as nature is for us. We are the sun, the moon and the stars. Sometimes it's easy to forget this or lose connection to the actual work when we are so focused on material things or work and external achievements. Simply taking our shoes and socks off and walking is healing as we connect to the earth's frequency. To practice yoga in nature allows us to listen, feel, smell, see, and connect to what is real; the connection between ourselves and nature. When you can completely surrender to this practice, it will help you feel more at ease, less stressed, happier, and healthier.
Yes. I love those tranquil garden spaces designed to sooth your soul. I love my yoga garden outdoor space for people in my family to enjoy.
My children and I love running around and "grounding", where we take off our shoes and consciously feel the earth under our feet. Spending time in nature is healing. It helps us heal, because we are back in our natural environment. Do not underestimate the power of being among nature and animals. Whenever we are in nature and in union with Mother Earth, we are at home.
Yes, yoga vouchers are a popular gift at Life on Pointe, and a thoughtful gift. Giving a yoga gift voucher deeply cares for someone's health and wellbeing. Please contact us for details.
Using crystal singing bowls, voice and tuning forks, sound healing is a beautiful technique. It helps us rebalance our frequency at a cellular level by synchronising with our brain waves and achieving deep relaxation and trauma healing.
I love walking, listening to the birds, sitting on the beach, and listening to the sound of the ocean. There are many vocal healers. I enjoy paying attention to their voice, and songs are such a powerful method of lifting my vibration.
Sit comfortably in your chair and let your spine lengthen for you. Feel your feet grounded on the floor if that feels comfortable to you. You breathe in, lift your left arm to the side, over your head, and gently stretch to the left as you breathe out. Recover and repeat to the right side. Inhale and lengthen the spine, place your left hand on your right knee, and gently twist your waist to look over your right shoulder. Recover and repeat to the left. At the start of a chair class, the same health and safety advice is offered in a non-chair class. Every day, the body needs something different, so tune in to what your body needs today. If you need to rest or come out of a pose to a more comfortable position, do so and breathe. Gentle chair yoga-modified yoga practice is great for elderly people to enjoy.
Regular yoga practice means a conscious way of living. Therefore, you will have a more positive outlook on yourself and your life. Your physical and energetic body will feel lighter and more balanced, and your muscles will become stronger and more supple. You will feel more peaceful, content, and grounded as your life improves.
Since teaching and yoga coaching, my mind is much more organised. Passing on these ancient tools of mindfulness and energy work helps me learn more about myself. Every time I coach someone, I learn something new about myself. In the same way, my dancing also improved when I became a ballet coach, because I studied my physicality as I taught others. It helped me analyse my yoga and breathing techniques and make improvements.
I was in a transitional phase of life, from being a dancer to becoming a teacher. I just felt drawn to the particular yoga teacher course I found at Sun Power Yoga. I had been practising yoga for a while and knew I loved how it made me feel, so I decided to dive deeper into my practice.
I have been practising yoga for over 15 years now. It was a natural progression from my ballet training to moving into yoga, because it was a physical art form. Still, I loved how much yoga taught me about myself and took me on a personal development journey.
